Archives for the month of: April, 2018

It was an impulsive trip that me and Dian Prasetyo took on a long weekend. Went to Solo by train from Jogja only 8000 rupiah for each passenger. It was a hot deal, yeah, I knew it, that’s why I love go to Solo 😀

Beside Laweyan, we decided to visit a Gamelan factory in Wirun, Sukoharjo. Some people said there were few Gamelan workshops that still running. But it was a quiet village when we arrived in Wirun. I thought, I came at the wrong time. But hey, suddenly I heard forged metal sound behind a wall. So lucky, I visited the workshop at that day. Because the workshop owner said, that they only make Gamelan by order now.

The writing published on Travelounge Magazine March 2017 edition. Credit to my husband, Dian Prasetyo, who helped to take some photographs, although his name didn’t mentioned again on the magz 😀

When you (accidentally) travel around Jogja on Kamis Pahing, you will probably meet some students wearing traditional clothes just like Kebaya, Beskap, Jarik, together with Blankon. This government regulation not only apply on public schools, but also for them who holding public office especially as a representative of an organization or government department. The rule, however, made Lurik become more popular because nowadays everybody can wear it as school uniform. Not only special circles inside Keraton Jogja.

So I took two short trips around Sleman and Jogja to met traditional Lurik weavers. It was an interesting factory visit. You’ll see the worker 90% are old men and women. So, if there’s a proverb said, “Yang muda yang berkarya”, it does not apply there.

The writing abaout Lurik published on Travelounge Magz January 2017 edition. Actually, Dian Prasetyo, my husband, helped me to take some photographs. It didn’t mentioned on the magz. And I don’t know why. Hahaha… it’s not a big deal anyway 🙂
