I took these two pictures on my field trip to Gunung Ijo, southern Yogyakarta. Gunung Ijo is one of the famous geotourism destinations besides Bayat and Nglanggeran. It was formed by the pyroclastic sedimentation from deposit material of the ancient supervulcano (named Semilir Formation, geologist says).

Today, the residents exploit the site as an ornamental stone quarries. Without good planning, this precious place would be destroyed due to overmining exploration. (Ayos Purwoaji/Travelboogie)
